EXTENSION OF STAY IN PORTUGAL
The regularisation process for UK nationals who move to Portugal from 1st January 2021 onwards, will fall under the legislation covering third-country nationals and, therefore, residence rights are different from those granted by the Withdrawal Agreement.
For UK nationals who are not covered by the Withdrawal Agreement and who wish to extend their stay in Portugal for more than 90 days, please visit the SEF’s website and check the information according to your situation > here
For UK nationals who are not covered by the Withdrawal Agreement and intend to apply for residence in Portugal, should apply for a residency visa with the Portuguese Consulate in their country of residency (with territorial jurisdiction over their area of residence) prior to coming to Portugal > here

Here you can find a calculator that allows you to count how many days you need to be outside the Schengen area. Despite the reference to the short-stay visa, this tool may be used for purposes of tracking the period of stay outside the Schengen area after the ninety (90) days of stay.
