UK Nationals Support Fund

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) through the UK Nationals Support Fund (UKNSF) project is providing support to at-risk UK nationals and their family members to complete their residency applications and/or to apply for the new residence card in Portugal now that the UK has left the European Union (EU).

UKNSF project is aimed at UK nationals who were living in Portugal before the 31st December of 2020 and who may be particularly at-risk or facing specific challenges, such as elderly, people with limited mobility, people living with different disabilities, or chronic illness, people who face language or literacy barriers, or barriers in accessing technology. IOM addresses UK nationals' different needs from awareness raising to practical guidance on application procedures.

This project is funded by the UK Government, coordinated by IOM UK and is being implemented in France, Germany, Italy, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain. More information here.

Working alongside the British Embassy and in partnership with the High Commission for Migration (ACM), IOM supports UK nationals by:

  • Raising awareness on residency requirements and application processes;

  • Providing information on residency requirements;

  • Providing linguistic, legal, consular and referral support;

  • Provide direct casework support to complete residency applications for those who struggle with accessing application processes and information themselves.

The UKNSF project developed by IOM Portugal works to ensure a suitable geographical coverage across the country, guarantying that the support provided meets the diverse needs of a diverse UKN population, ensuring an inclusive approach to practical support provided to UK nationals in matters of residency.

This project will be carried out until the end of June 2021.
